It came to 77 Diamonds attention that a very rare diamond is currently set to go to auction in October. A 7.59-carat round fancy vivid blue diamond is to be sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale on October 7 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Premier Blue diamond is the largest round fancy vivid blue diamond to be graded by GIA. The internally flawless diamond is expected to make $19 million dollars at auction.
Sotheby’s have said “No significant round fancy vivid blue diamond has ever appeared at auction worldwide thus making the Premier Blue a rare and exceptional gem.” Round diamonds are very raw in terms of fancy coloured diamonds as there is a high wastage during the cutting process.
The diamond will be touring Asia as well as Geneva, London, New York and Doha at before the auction in Hong Kong – so do go and see it!
